    Hi all,

I am sitting on the fence with this question. My first issue is I do not have a list and there will be a small learning curve of how to add a ebook for free download on my site (as an incentive to join my list). Not quite sure how to do this. I am using hostgator as my host & wp as my CMS. (If anyone has any tips on how to do this?

I figure if I set up the optin form on 17 autoblogs I could build a list in 17 different niches therefore, I would be able to promote different affiliate programs to each list?

Do you think this is a good idea or no?

Nobody does this? Like offer a free ebook after they fill in an opt-in form?

I thought it would be a good way to build several lists. What are your opinions?

Just upload your ebook to your server , put up a pic or download link, then hyperlink the pic or link to your ebook. Done!!

To answer your question check out JohnChow.com --> then look to the right and see how many aweber subscribers he has. Yes it works. Just do it, not really a question you need to ask here.

There are many javascripts available which will popup after some 5 to 10 seconds and prompt them to signup. Check shoemoney's blog for example.

Yes this is the BEST moneymaking idea you can implement but the best answer I can give you is it depends...

    Here's why...

#1... Most autoblogs deliver crappy content so nobody would ever sign up for a list on an autoblog unless it was a popup that hits right when someone lands on the page. If that's the case and they actually do opt it and then you deliver crappy content they unscubscribe anyways.

#2 If it's a REAL niche with a MAJOR problem like curing cancer or something you might still get opt ins even on an autoblog and those optins are worth major cash because they are desperate for anything you might send them. They are information junkies by definition. This is basic marketing...find a niche and start talking about it...except the blog is one (#1) to many conversation and the emails can be very personal one to one conversation and your profits will go skyhigh in the personal marketing even if you are offering the EXACT same thing as your banner ads...It's crazy.

#3 Almost all autoresponders give you optin form code....you can put it as a sidebar widget, a pop-up or whatever. I don't do full autoblogs so I put mine in the sidebar. If someone opts in I know they are a buyer because my free giveway targets them.
Example "10 things you MUST know before you buy a used car" Then you give them a PLR book / negociating guide etc. Then you start sending them emails for stuff for the car you KNOW they just bought. Gas mileage improvers, fuzzy dice...you get the idea.

Of course all this depends on your business model. If you are a pure autoblogger everything I mentioned might be a waste of time. I'm following semi-auto blog model...JUST to build a huge list because the "money is in the list" FYI. The people that opt-in to cure back pain or some chronic illness are buyers...FOREVER. Snatch them. Rant = over.

I'd say 50% of the junk email I get is, is all from doing this, so it does work, good thing about this is, it doesn't even have to be good content, because once they've submitted their email it's already too late to opt-out, well, depending on if you even give them the option to opt-out, they have to receive at least 1 email.

Wow- thanks for all the replies. The reason I was asking is because most people when they do autoblogs-just monetize, ie-set & forget. I figured it would be a good way to build a list. Pretty much was wondering if anybody did the opt-in forms on their autoblogs or if it was even worth the trouble. So I got my answer.

    Thanks given!
