I don't know if this means anything because it still looks like my rankings are the same although maybe some dancing going on because I just built links. I usually check my ahrefs account once a day to check my backlinks. I looked at my ahrefs account and I had a 7 million rank drop. Not only that but my domain rating dropped a few points as well.

Does this mean anything? I see no penalty in google or anything like that. Could it be just because of new links being built?

It really doesn't matter, look at your organic traffic.

If you see gains on that stat each week/month then you should be good!

Look Ahrefs doesn't matter in and of itself... BUT in my experience having a sudden drop by one of the barometers like them usually foretells an issue you have going on. Ahrefs is very link sensitive, so you may have an issue with link rot, negative SEO, or loss of links going on that could be at the root of this drop. Take this as a possible warning sign and do an audit of your links to make sure everything is alright.

Ive had a few drops as well as large spikes happen on ahrefs. Its pretty unreliable so I wouldnt really trust it. Ive seen huge variables in where sites rank, especially sites with bizarre link profiles and that probably get little to no traffic.

I did an extensive check in my backlink profile and did not notice any abnormalities. The only thing that I can think of is I just build about 30 web 2.0s and pointed tier 2's at them.

Then you should check with the backlinks quality of tier2 sites.
Maybe the relevancy will be low on that tier2 sites.
Check with outbound links in web 2.0 because if it's high the link juice will be considerably low.
