Something weird happened over the last 1 week.

My website (created around March 2016), was steady in rankings since May to early july. I stopped all link building activities on May approx and have not touched the site ever since. I even removed 2 301 redirect expired domains from my website.

But this week I saw a significant increase in my keywords, some jumping 30-90 positions. It is in a noncompetitive KW(s).

Did anyone else experience something like this? What could be the possible reason? I was thinking that Google might have placed a "Ranking Restriction" on newer websites, and 4-5 months was the time whereby they removed this restriction.

Google is strange the last few weeks. I have seen things similar to what you describe! Wonder what they are doing and what the new Google ranking trend will be.

I'm pretty sure age is one of the many ranking factors, however I wouldn't place among the most important ones.

Bumps for all to see. I think age has become a "control point" to whether you will rank higher in google.

Age is also an important factor but if your website was well optimized and get popular among users (lots of real social shares) then it will rank even quicker.

I sent that website 2500-3000 drip fed social signals around May. Got a fair bit of increases but the rankings stabilized thereafter.

The current round of increases are unexplained for, which I wanted to know the reason why. (So I can replicate)

I'm sure to some extent but I believe it to be the history of the domain that is providing the SEO and not the age by itself. What is mean is if the domain has zero backlinks or social presence then I doubt the domain will give much benefit whatsoever but if it has even just a few backlinks that have been live for many years it would provide the benefit that is being attributed to age.
