Silly question....

I am targeting a keyword which receives 12,000 searches a month according to Wordtracker.

In the number 5 listing is a site which has only 111 backlinks (cant be exact) and is less than a year old.

This site falls just below Amazon in the ranking and ahead of the manufacture website.

He does have adsense on his site, while my site has more four times more backlinks.....many more pages.

I can't figure out how he is ranking so damn high.

So does adsense carry more weight with Google?

Any SEO experts, instant message me and we can chat more about it if you would like.

I just don't know how his site is ranking at all.

How are you checking the sites backlinks? Use majestic SEO "Fresh" index to get an accurate read.

Also, 111 links can mean a lot if they are really strong.

Adsense, IMO, carries no weight in Google.

If you want you can PM me info and I can give you an exact reason why you are being outranked.

yes. adsense carries no weight. better if you can avoid it. have you seen any authority sites that has adsense happen to be in first position.

This is actually something I've thought about before and common sense tells me that having adsense on your site should benefit you. Google is about making money and adsense does that for them. The more adsense pages in the top spots of the rankings, the more money google makes.

Same should be true for having youtube vids on your page.

Look at the quality of the links. Just because he has fewer links than yours doesn't mean you should outrank him. Plus, it is preferable to have as many different linking domains as possible rather than footer links
