    Just a quick question. Assuming I add no more backlinks, would adding related content for long tail keywords make it easier/help the process of ranking for the main keyword?

    If that's the case, can't we just scrape the google suggestions (http://suggest.thinkpragmatic.net/), produce 200-300 word articles for each one, and pick up a lot of momentum that way?

    Yes, content is king. However, you may/will get penalized for using duplicate content. Fresh, unique content is most effecient.

    What about the difference between publishing 50 articles at once vs. slowly pushing them out over time? Does that make a difference?

    Once or twice a day i think it would be the best way.Try that if you don't want to use backlinks,and regarding to the nature of your website,you'll know how many articles to add daily after some time.

    Cheers

    Many people speculate that for a new website, you should drip-feed backlinks - I.E. slowly submit articles over time to avoid the sandbox.

    I'm not referring to submitting articles to article directories. I'm talking about expanding my site. Would the answer still be the same?

    As with anything in this game you have to try your own thing, here is an example;

    Around 4 months ago I set up a new website in the health niche and uploaded 500 pages of content which was of a good quality, by good I mean spun with pictures and good on site seo all at once.

    Within a few days, 40-50 pages were indexed and within a month all 500 were indexed and bringing in a decent search volume.

    6 months later the search volume continues to increase to wild volumes and in this case there was no detriemental effect by uploading a large amount of pages together.

    In some niches you may not get away with this so easily but it does go to show how experiementing and trying your own thing can yield surprising results.....

    I misinterpreted your question. takeachance reported some interesting results above. Personally, I publish articles slowly and frequently, for example once or twice a week. This trains the spiders to come back frequently, if they see your website is being frequently updated.

    This is the main advantage of adding articles slowly. There are no penalties for speed of article adding, after all G doesn't know that there isn't a big team behind a new website, and isn't interested.

    If you want to get the benefit of regular crawling AND do the articles in a big blast then add relevant comments to your own articles on an ad hoc basis.

    All of the pages were taken from G00gle keyword tool data for specific categories of the health niche I was targeting....

    Don't get me wrong here, drip feeding content is definately the way to go in order to get G to consitentantly crawl your site - I am just offering up an alternative to the 'norm' which in this case has worked nicely - think about it, if you publish a large number of pages off the bat and you receive no penalties for doing so, why do you need G to come back and crawl your website? speeds things up nicely.

    But remember, this will not always work - you have to try different things and see what works and what doesn't....
