While testing different link placements, I noticed pages with weak metrics, even though the overall site and page are highly relevant to the topic and properly indexed.

So, does page-level strength actually matter that much when judging the value of a link?

Then we consider whether those links are useless or still valuable if the page has relevance, indexing, good internal linking, and is finally on a decent site. Is this where the difference between domain metrics and the actual linking page comes in?

What’s yours? I’m still curious to hear....

Relevance and actual traffic of the linking page matters most, if the page is relevant, indexed, and getting real visibility, I would value that more than just looking at its metrics.

The bit I'd focus on is internal links, not the page metrics.

A brand new inner post on a DR 60 site starts with basically nothing pointed at it. The domain doesn't hand it equity just for existing, and if nothing on the site links to that post, Google has no real reason to come back to it often either. So yes, the linking page matters, but weak metrics on a fresh page usually just mean it hasn't earned anything yet rather than that it's dead weight.

That's the whole reason we push homepage placements over fresh posts. The homepage is the most internally linked page on almost any site, so it's already carrying something the day your link goes on it.

URL Rating I treat as a lagging number. It tells you what already happened to that page. Doesn't say much about what it'll do for you next month.

I have had good results from pages with weak metrics. If the page is relevant and indexed and has some real internal links behind it, I dont worry much about the numbers.

Page level metrics are important it can be acquired through the quality content, internal link and contextual backlink building

you can use DR more as a filter for the domain, then judge the actual page separately. open the linking URL and look at what links to that page, how well it’s linked internally, whether it gets any visibility of its own, and how many other outbound links are sitting on it

A low authority page situated on a strong domain does not diminish the link's value. Provided the page is indexed and supported by solid internal linking, the site's overall authority will naturally flow down to it. Brand new guest posts inherently begin with weak page level metrics, yet they still contribute meaningfully. Ultimately, relevance and a strong root domain prevail.

in my experience the referring page matters less then people think as long as its indexed and topically relevant, google seems to weight the overall domain trust more. ive gotten links from pages with basically no metrics that still moved rankings a bit, so i wouldnt overthink page authority too much

In my experience 'page level relevance' beats page level metrics more than people assume. I have seen rankings moved just from links originating from 'weak' pages because the relevancy was high enough, the page indexed, internally linked and on a trusted domain.

low page level metrics automatically make a link useless Relevance indexing site quality internal linking and the context of the placement can still make the link worthwhile.

Page level strength matters, but low metrics don't make link useless, a relevant, indexed page on a quality site with good internal linking can still provide value, I'd judge the actual page & relevance rather than relying only on da/dr

It all depends with the backlinking profile not authority nor so called root domain relevancy

Low-metric page isn't useless by default. If a page is relevant, indexed, has internal links, and sits on a genuinely good site, the link can still have value. Look at the actual page and context rather than judging it purely by DA/DR.

IMO Page metrics matter, but relevance, indexing, context, and the overall domain quality often matter more metrics.

i will not rule out the existence of a relationship based on the poor metrics of the page that links.in my experience, pages with poor metrics have passed value, especially when the page has relevance nd is adequately indexed nd linked within the webssite.for me, what makes sense in the page nd the position of the link matters more than the metric of the page.

'Weak pages' are why we tier :D

I think it could in some form, the best way to combat this is to ensure the page is not an orphan page, ask for links to be pointed from other pages within the site to said page.

i would not disregard any association simply on the basis of poor metrics associated with the linking page. a relevant page with content that is truly usefful on the website would carry much more weight than an irrelevant page with good metrics.
