Hey everyone I just bought a subscription to hostgators cloud hosting with the highest level package that comes with a dedicated ip. But I need to turn it on and configure it. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this and knew whether it was worth it to switch?

Also I was wondering if there might be any negative effects like switching ips may reset some of my seo benefits?

searching on the web found this in a few quotes

Dear ‘SEO consultants’, Please stop telling people to put their sites on different IP’s. Every time I hear this, I tell our customers to find different SEO consultants.

i think dedicated ip help seo ranking, because if it is share ip, once a share ip get flagged, all your effort gone.

IMO this statement is correct. It will not give you high ranking & It will not help you to rank faster.

But As @fastlinks said it will help to save from other spammers who is sharing your IP
It also improve compatibility with some older browsers and uncommon applications that do not support SNI.

Changing IP addresses will have no negative effect on SEO if done correctly.

    1. Get the site up and running at the new IP address
    2. Switch the DNS to point to the new IP address
    3. Keep the site running at both IP addresses until the DNS "time to live" expires
    4. Monitor the log files at the old IP address to ensure no more traffic is coming there
    5. Take down the site at the old IP address

    Hi there,

Moving to a dedicated IP is a great idea - that is not going to harm your site in anyway.
Switching IP to completely opposite/different state/location does affect your site's rankings but the impact is minimal.

And about that quote, that must be told by sick hosting consultants who have been asked for dedicated IPs all their lives. Let them be.. Different IPs are usually suggested for PBN sites, not money sites.
    Thanks
