Does a big SB blast to a 301 redirect hurt ranking or not?

    Hi guys

Had made a 301 redirect to one of my sites last year, blasted the hell out of it, and the site had stayed at around number 2-3 spot on google (it was on third page). I was not making much with the site so I decided to change the 301 to my new 1 month old site which was sitting low down on the first page.

2-3 days later, my old site starting moving down which I thort it would do.

Did my new site move up?

    NO

It went from the first page to about page 60!!!

I have carried on backlinking for a few weeks and it started moving up a few places but its still on one of the last pages

I have taken the 301 off now to see what happens in the next few days but can someone help me with this

301 passes the backlink juice, you obviously would go down in serps if you did a massive blast.
