Does a backlink count until googles cache shows it?

    Im thinking it doesnt but would like some confirmation on it.

    I have a link on a page that was placed after the google cache of the page. Its been a while and the cached copy hasnt changed to show the new post but the rich snippits it shows in the serps does actually show the new post title.

    So does that link count? Its a high pr page btw

    edit: maybe this should be in whitehat seo? sorry.
