Do YouTube partners get paid per click or per impressions?

In other words, is YouTube payments similar to adsense?

e.g. on Adsense, product niche websites tend to have much higher earnings per click than, say, websites on philosophy.

So i'm wondering if YouTube works the same way.

e.g. are is the payout of a YouTube partner related to the content he's talking about.

Given how much money FRED is making I would guess no....?

    impression

they get paid per 1000 video views.

Even if an ad doesnt play at that time.

But isnt the equation partly based on the number of subscribers?

    no.

it depends on your niche and video views

    nothing more

so it depends on the niche?

meaning a person who makes a video on home repair, will make more than a person with a video on philosophy?

    Yes

its because the ads that appear on gaming videos for example are different to those on home improvement videos for example.

You get 50% of the revenue created by your videos.

If your part of a network like machinima or w/e you get greatly less

Also, why don't partners just use a bot to inflate their impressions...?

    They will loose there partnerships

They often get less than $2 per 1000 views as well.

To make it worth it you need a LOT of fake views

and its just not worth the risk of loosing your partnership

Youtube do not give partnerships to anyone

you need a few 1000 subs + 10k views per video and you need to be doing it for like 18 months. Very rarely do youtube break these guides unless your accepted into a network.

After all that work you have to be a moron to f*ck it up

    Not true.

I became a partner in about a month. I only have about 40 subscribers but a few of my videos got over 10000 views in about 2 weeks.

I was asked to join as well ... I have one 30 second animoto video promoting my site, 200 views, zero subcribers. I would have thought the requirements for partner was much more strict?

I think many of you are confusing "parnter" with "revenue sharing". They don't ask you to be a partner, you have to apply and answer a ton of questions and meet requirements. The difference between partnership and revenue sharing is, partners get exclusive extra options for their channel (big banner at the top, custom video thumbnails, etc.)
