Yeah, I use have used PRWeb.com and about 15 other sites, mostly free and all are PR3 - PR6. PRWeb.com will kick back a release if they think it is not good enough. They are like the Ezinearticles of the Press Release world. But I hear that PRLeap (paid) or one of those...will get you in Google News guaranteed once they approve your release

I prefer free sites because I have alot of sites and I try to do a press release per site, per month. If the release is interesting enough, it can get into Google News. Make sure to put your keywords in title and have a good keyword density just like articles. Some sites let you use anchor text and some just let you use your URL...

Heck yeah, it is good for backlinks! And it gives your site the look of authority, especially in markets that are business to business or have stodgy old companies dominating the 1st 2 pages.

I used free press sites to bust into a blue chip niche with PR 6 and PR 5 sites on the fist page...I had multiple listings for my release on 1st and 2nd pages. Then I followed up with 4 videos submitted using traffic geyser and then a couple of articles on EzineArticles. That's it...Oh yeah, I forgot that I set up autoposting for the next 6 months...so I am not doing anything else to this site for the next 6 months. From zero PR to PR3 this last update...and from zero visitors to 300 visitors daily with 30- 40 of them BUYING something everyday in less than 30 days. All whitehat (sorry guys but you know I love you all! :)

Also I just did an all free PR site release for a client on a limited budget. Got first page rankings for his local search keywords...Google News picked it up and now all the PR sites are carrying the story...just a simple service announcement. Nothing special. But the links are building on autopilot. My client is ecstatic because it is his first press release after a year in business. Can you believe he has a PR 6 site and was nowhere on Google?? These offline guys have no idea how to work the Search engines!

If you are just looking for backlinks and not press contacts...sometimes submitting on weekends is a good thing. And don't forget to use the free PR sites in UK...they provide great coverage and backlinks!

Remember a link is a link. PR links are good when you get them but I just focus on getting links whether they are pass on juice or not because at the end of the day, I want to make money and some of the best sites to make money on, don't pass juice. So screw Google PR!

    LOL,
    Alexa...

I am glad that my information was useful for you. Most places will kick it back and suggest corrections so you can just resubmit. Believe me, they want your money but they aren't trying to screw you...these services are pretty reputable that is why they are good to use.

I do not offer formal services, but I do get clients via word of mouth. I do maybe 3-5 SEO type business-type or corporate clients per month...they show up in email or get referred by somebody I helped before. I hate selling or advertising. Mostly, I love being able to work at home making money with own non IM info products and affiliate marketing.

I am just now realizing that I have some good skills. I don't want to get in trouble with the mods so PM me if you have some specific needs.

FYI, my background is computer engineering but I spent most of my time in Corporate America (before I bounced) in marketing and sales...so I have developed good writing and product packaging skills that works pretty well in IM.

Funny, how I hated English and writing courses in school!!

Here is a parting tip...when you are writing and submitting an article or press release to an "authority site" like an article directory or PR site, whatever...make sure that you build links to it like it was your own site. I can get first page listings for competitive terms by doing this because 90% of people will just post and leave it.

Here is a super fast way to build links back...take the same press release or article and put it into PowerPoint with some pictures. You can add music or talk over it or both. Doesn't matter. Now post it up on the video sharing sites (I use Traffic Geyser to post to over 30 sites, 20 podcasting sites and 10 social bookmarking sites all at once) but you can use Tube Mogul...it's free and aggregates reporting on clicks and views so it has the best analytics. Now make sure to link back to the original article. Now you just gave it major juice from high pr sites...You don't care if PR juice is passed from one Authority site to another. What you care about is that it is linked. And you don't care if the video article is linking to the original article who is going to read a video article anyway?...What you care about is getting an article to the first page and it staying there!

    Alexa:)

Press releases are a great source of links, also you can get some decent traffic directly from them if they get picked up. I don't use PRweb, I use magic submitter, blasts each release out to 18 sites with a few clicks for free.

The trick is to make them look like a genuine story, not a sales pitch. I've found writing press releases about people who've had success using a product get picked up more, a few have even got into google news.
