I believe google will continue to invest in voice search and dictation. It's all about how people will respond to this technology. Despite that, I have the impression that a lot of people would like to voice search.

If you can find a barber and book an appointment with them with voice search, that would be pretty useful. This would be practical if your hands are busy like when you are driving. However, the technology behind voice search will still need to be improved to provide accurate searches.

I actually use it quite a lot. I don't think it's necessarily (maybe not at all) meant for mobile phones, but rather smart devices like Google Home, Amazon Alexa etc.

I think I use: "Hey Google, call ..." 2-3 times per day.

I’ve noticed my parents and people their age use voice to text for texting. I don’t know if its the next big thing but the use has definitely increased over time. No doubt that trend will continue

with the increasing growth of alexa etc, it probably will be a huge thing in the next 5-years as the technology gets better and more accessible

I think it might take 5-10 years for voice search to live up its own glory.

Well the only question is,
If they will eventually collect voice data and let marketing use it, with the upcoming WhatsApp store,
Targeting voice messages and recordings+Voice searches would be one of the biggest game-changers in marketing history.
But that's just an apocalyptic up calling with everything to do with privacy

Nah. Think to Search is going to be the next big thing. Whatever you think will be on your screen.

It's already being used by all major companies isn't it? You don't see any data probably because the speech processor processes the data to text before searching. Personally, I use it everyday; and it has become kind of a habit (specially when using my smart tv, text input is kinda lame with the remote).

I'm pretty sure that every article people put out on their websites (right now) is published solely for ranking on searches regarding the "voice search" meme. It has gained some traction, perhaps it's shown to be trending on some keyword research tool, so people are posting about it more to try for clicks on the new hot topic.

I don't think voice search will take off. It's kind of annoying to say things out loud as my house is joined onto a few others, and they could hear me talking to my computer all day for "random" things they don't care about.
It's especially bad for people who could just type out any search at over 100 words per minute. Takes what, 4 seconds to type an entire search into the box to hit enter? What would my hands be doing for me to have to search using my voice? It's pointless.

Siri is good, though.
