I never really had a domain slapped or penalty before, so maybe some guys with experience can give an opinion.
About four months ago I did the Spam Gone Wild service (in BST), with an aged site. It put me in top 10 for several keywords, one with 150,000+ exacts, and a few with 30,000+ exacts. So I turned it into a killer site, looks great with really high quality content. I kept building high quality links to it, and pushed the keywords that were in top 10 to #2, stuck behind wiki. I just started getting around 4000 visitors per day and climbing. Traffic and rankings have been very consistent for the last several month, slowly climbing, never dropping off at all.

But today, a couple of my #2 ranks dropped to #10. One #3 stayed the same. A few around the #15 fell right off google. Couple around #10 dropped to about #20. A few around #10 stayed the same. And a few other rankings dropped off 5-10 spots.

Traffic for today is still at 1,800 which I guess is still pretty good, but obviously disappointed with all the progress I was making. None of my other sites that I used SGW on were effected.

Possible dancing for some reason? Or penalty?

I had a much larger drop after using SGW, but after a week, I bounced back. I'd wait it out for a week. But keep doing what you've been doing: links/content.

Yeah I had initial bouncing too. But we're talking four months after.

I forgot to mention, happened to me 3 months after. So roughly the same as you.

The point is rankings drop definitely as they should but thats the shock therapy from google.

Either stay mad ( keep building links ) or forget that site and develop others till the ealier one bounce back.

But reading your post it seems it is just google dance - while penalty is 1/5 of your regular traffic

I noticed a lot of the SGW links are temporary. Maybe another order would help?

midnight_focus is probably right in that I'm guessing the links got wiped, check the number of backlinks from 4 months ago and today.I'd expect a noticeable drop.
    No penalty.

A penalty would have resulted in a much bigger drop.

Probably a devaluation of some links, maybe you lost some important links, or possible minor algo tweak that affected you.

    Definitely not a penalty.

    Penalty Example:
My top earner: #2 to Not in top 500.
I have been building links since and have regained entry to the top 100.

    Devalued link example:
#1 to#15 for a medium competition kw. Built some new high pr links... back to #1.

    Thanks.
Kinda sucks, but I guess I can't complain too much.
