Do you think that is possible to rank with a domain ending ".com.ar"?

.com.ar is the TLD used in Argentina. I'm not sure if you can rank in google.com with a .com.ar, but there are a lot of .tv or .ws, that are original from countries

    searching for

    Code:
    site:.com.ar

brings back a load of indexed pages. Not sure if that's a yes or no to your question. However, most of the results seem to be in foreign languages.

Sure you can rank. It's all about content, incomming links and your SEO efforts.

I am daily competing with com.br sites for one of my main niches and they do rank just as well as any other site.

Some say that .info rank worse then .com and some say that .org and .edu rank higher then .com and it might be true if two sites where everything is equal is competing about the SERP listings but how often does that happend? It's rather factors like age of domain, quality links (from related sites and from high PR sites) and other SEO factors that counts.

Sorry for no responding, I misconfigured the email notifications

I'm worry because .com.ar are only for Argentinian, So maybe there have special treatment, but thanks to your information a0rta, I will start using them a lot more.

    One idea in my head:

i think that maybe .com.ar domains are like domains with "-". People don't like them, don't remember them...

For example, I used to do a lot of web proxy stuff, and the .com domains are great there. Because you don't have to get organic traffic to profit. Links and people actually remembering the domain are big traffics sources

Instead, I think we can use domains with "-" for money sites or ppc landing pages. People don't have to remember, have to follow an ad or click in the SERP

Maybe the owner of that .com.br domain had to fight harder. I don't know, just a little thinking :)

Yep. If targeting the US market you should have domains that they are more likely to remember. A .com.ar isn't the best one in that case.

don't want to hijack the thread but I'm assuming in this same vein a .com.fr addy would be marketable for the french market?

also, I agree, that if you're targeting the U.S. it's less likely that someone will use the .com.ar . I'm american and spend part of my time living in Argentina and I know about the .com.ar because of living there but other than that perhaps I wouldn't have bothered much with it.

In our case we want to target French speakers so I'm thinking for that it would be more useful.

ya .com.br and .com.fr domains can rank as good as .com.

But if you want people to remember your site you should just use a .com
