What is the better method? To rebuild the website + content from the wayback machine? Or simply creating a whole new website and redirecting all error pages to the homepage?

For me there is second choices in here:
    1. using webmaster to crawl and the set the error problem and delete
    2. if you want to rebuild it's better insert a content than redirecting, if its already been crawl by google u will lose the link juice of the page

I'd rebuild based on previous content and add on 200-300words of homepage content relevant to where I am linking to.

@nakamura you can also do what @cyrusv do , the point is same as my point 2, its better than redirecting your web page

    Yes, I don't mean a 301 redirect.
I mean if there is a domain, which got good backlinks on xyz.com/dog-food and I will create a whole new site (no rebuild) then I redirect the /dog-food to the homepage.

I never rebuild sites. You want your PBN to be as relevant when it comes to content as possible. That's especially important if the PBN domain is not niche relevant backlink wise. Plus, there might also be some issues with copyright along the way. Happens more often than you would think.

But if the domain is in the same niche, then wouldn't it be smart to rebuild the site and the content to get the rankings/traffic back? I would like to send you a PM with something I came across few days ago. Like a PBN link building strategy, just to hear your opinion. I don't want to make it public tho, since I don't want to make someones money site public.

Talking about copyright.. we get quite a few copyright emails every month. Just yesterday we received one from a large health company's lawyer.
So be careful what kind of domains you restore or you might have to waste your time with that kind of stuff.

It will never get its ranking back. It doesn't work like that.

How does it work then? If a domain just expired or expired one month ago and it was ranked for a keyword, then why should it "never" get its ranking back?

Once I forgot to renew one of my domains. The website was blank for about 3 weeks. Rankings dropped. After renewing and the content came back the rankings also came back to normal.

Once the content gets deindexed, it loses age and starts from zero. You will never find a completely indexed website anywhere unless you buy a live one.
