    Yes. You can be sure.
And may be there is something true in that Blogspot = g00gle stuff.
But .com looks better for your users and $10 are not so much.

It really depends on your keywords and the kind of backlink method you will do but as far as I can tell, yes they can rank #1.

Yes, of course it's possible. But this is a general question because depends what you do in order to rank it. So if you don't do anything to rank it will not rank :)

It really depends on the keywords, backlinks and a whole bunch of other factors. I have blogspot sites that rank #1 for certain keywords (albeit not super competitive ones).
In the long run I think that .com's rank better, but thats just my personal opinion based on experience.

I think it depends on the
    - keyword competitiveness
    - content quality
    - backlink profile

It's simple, when you upgrade your blogspot to .com it gains a few places in the SERPs, I've tested this multiple times. So you're putting yourself at a disadvatage, but it can rank, just not as well as a .com site.

Sure, I've seen many instances where Blogspot and Wordpress sites are #1 in Google for a certain keyword. Not a super-competitive one, though. If you think you can rank it and save some money, go for it!

Yes, but if Google decides to delete your blog due to some odd reason then all your hard work is completely gone.

If you're afraid to invest $10 then internet marketing isn't for you.

And shame on you, regular member.

Google will lower your rank of an Adsense optimized site if you have too many blocks which lowers your onpage SEO score which goes contrary to the Adsense messages you'll get about adding more blocks to your site because you are missing out on earning opportunities.

I personally like Blogspot for "set and forget" blogs. You can set them up legit, and just never worry about them again and just let them age. Aged blogspots KILL the serps. You never have to build backlinks or pay renewals or hosting. Just do a quick and dirty setup, and you have automated income forever.

Ranking depends on the keywords so if chosen keywords are catching the attention of search engines it will surely get good ranking :) and yes Google is fan of serious bloggers.

I have noticed that some of the scarper sites also send traffic to you. I have one blog which gets scraper sites traffic from russia. I have no idea how that happened, but it is possible to get some traffic. I don't care about rank 1 anymore as that doesn't make money these days. Traffic matters.
