I'm thinking about buying a LED TV that would also serve as my computer monitor. I'm debating between a 26 and 32 inch TV. The price differences are not really big (like $100.)

With a bigger screen you can have two or three windows open at the same time.

Does anyone here at BHW use their TV as a monitor? One thing I am worried about is how comfortable it would be sitting so close to a large screen.

Yea, i used to use my 65 inch tv as a pc monitor, but i was sitting about 6 or 7 feet away. loved it. it was relaxing that i could sit on the couch and use my pc. and it makes coding alot more fun

why would you want a TV for a monitor? Their resolution sucks for PC stuff.

The new samsung LED tv's have incredible resolution levels, I have a 55 inch that I connect my laptop up to occasionally
and even from 2 feet away it looks stunning. The 36-40 inch models should be more than enough for daily use.

The new age lcd and led TV's with 1080p must be, because many monitors brag about being 1080p as well.

Not if the TV has HDMI (digital) display, which looks much better than a monitor's VGA (analog) display. Most monitors made today offer both analog and digital display.

If I had the space I would go for the TV. :callyou:

It depends on what you'll be doing with that TV. Most people don't know this but even the newer LED TV do not display text (e.g., excel spreadsheets) on the same level as LED or LCD computer monitors (are learned this the hard way).

Yep I just use dual 24" computer Monitors Does everything that I need. If you do any design work I would stay away from the tv monitors. If your just surfing the web then it would be fine.

32 should be quite good. I have 24" but many a times I find it small when i work from distance. So with 32", you can work comfortably with 5-6 feet distance

If your going to be up on it , like a foot away, then get a 27 inch widescreen. I work up close.

I use a 26 full hd screen to fit two windows at each given time. It works perfectly. No need for two monitors or a bigger screensize.

I made my own computer table so it fits in the corner, i then made it so im sitting inside a curve of the table, so im actually sitting inside it hehe. Then i got 3x 24" inch monitors set up around me.

And i must say i couldnt live without it, just speeds up my work SO much, the ability to have all these applications open without overlapping and maximizing and minimizing 24/7 really pays off.

I only use my 52" tv when im watching movies from my pc etc.
