After some researches I did it looks like tier 2 is not giving me a lot of value. After building a lot of diversified links to unique HQ web 2.0 and blog network posts I was expecting more. I remember the days when tier 2 really worked wonders. Am I the only one here? Maybe I should try building spun content blog network posts for the HQ tier 1?

    Thanks.

Tier 2 and 3 are still extremely beneficial as far as I'm concerned.

"I remember the days..." when I could rank a web 2.0 site in a matter of hours just by blasting an enormous wave of Social Bookmarks at it too :p

Things are consistently evolving as I'm sure you're away and techniques will always ebb and flow in terms of their overall potency.

Building a content-rich, high quality money site and subsequent Tier 1 properties should be where the vast majority of your efforts go.

After that, however, you're going to need to power up those Tier 1 efforts with some slightly-more easier to build Tier 2 and Tier 3 properties.

They might take a little longer to gather steam but as far as I'm concerned, Tiered link building is still a powerful and vital strategy!

The way that I look at it is were in the business of creating authority tier 1 properties. The only way to do this is to create tier 2,3, and 4 backlinks that will increase the value of the tier 1 links. I think its evident that tier 2 links are still extremely important.

To be honest, I have stopped building tier 2 and 3 links.

Yes, I still do that. But the effect as not much as before. From different tests I made, I found that social signals bring so much value.

    Just my 2 cents.

G Spam team is aware that they work, Cutt's mentioned "upstream link building", and with that only tiered link building can be meant.

It does work still very good in my opinion, just not with unfiltered list's. The pages in 3-4'th tier have to have some kind of authority, even if spammy. The articles on 2nd tier built their authority by all the links they get.

So as long as it works, milk the cow.

Could you pelase give examples of the diversified links that you build to your web 2.0 ? not real example just the links types. Are these social bookmarks? wikis ? blog comments ?

OP are you sure your web 2.0 platforms are good/indexed? There are just ~ 15 platforms with "perfect indexation"

Yes I always build tier 2, if nothing else it helps get the first tier index then if you manage to get your tier 2 indexed it will pass some authority across. It might not be much but if you can blast out a ton of tier 2 links then it can help quite a lot.

Not sure how it works for you OP, but I wouldn't be able to be sure of my SEO campaigns wihtout their tier links. I just have good results doing it, and I wouldn't really want to try it. Why spoil something that's already beautiful and works? :) But overall, it's a general question. SEO itself, despite the split factor of onpage and offpage seo, doesn't depend nor relie only on single thing, and our SEO projects are pretty diverse on from another.. from a memeber to another, as well as from a site to another ~
