Are forum profiles still a part of your backlink arsenal? Just trying to figure out if i should invest some time building these still or not.

there are some pro's and con's for forum profiles as is with all types of backlinks.

    the pros:

    1. they dont get removed as quick as blogposts
    2. a forumprofile backlink has a lower amount of OBL then blogpostswhere there are sometimes thousands of OBL
the big con: it doesnt get indexed/crawled so it takes more effort to index them/let them count.

in short: you have less of a hard time getting the links to stick but it takes more effort to let them count/ be found by our big friend G.

so it depends what you hate more: blasting more often with blogcomments because only a small part sticks or indexing/pinging the hell out of your profile links.

its always good to have a mix of different baclinks , so mix things up ,

    • balance no-follow/do-follow
    • forum profiles
    • blog posts(scrapebox blasts)
    • articles
    • social bookmarks
    good luck,

    happy blackhatting,

Ya I send forum profiles to my Web 2.0's and supporting tiers.

The trick is trying to fill the profiles with as much "fluff" as you can to help them get indexed. Panda reduced the rate that profiles were indexed, but by adding as much content as possible to profiles its helped my overall indexing rate for profiles.

Forum profiles & signatures are still useful if you're participating in forums relating to your niche & actively participating. If you're providing useful info and not being spammy then you'll get some traffic, even if link itself doesn't give your site much of a boost, just because you're a valuable member of the forum.

Otherwise, it's a bit of work signing up for random forums just to get a link. I like forums better as a venue to get ideas for content or research what types of questions/problems people in your target audience have.

I don't. They almost don't count, even if you use an indexing service. And, even more important, some times they can hurt your site. Really.

I still use them. Fluff them up like Superlinks said and backlink them. Everything is a valuable tool in the arsenal.
