Do you split long articles?

If you have an 1500+ words article, do you split it in 2 parts?
I notice some sites do it but I really do not understand what they do it for.

No I keep them on one page. Those sites do it to create more pages with adverts on them.

1500 words ≠ a long article.

1500 words doesn't seems to be a long articles to split, but if you have 2500+ words article, then split them into two. Make sure with the type of article, which am talking about.

First 1500 words with do-follow links & next 1000 words with no-follow links on the same Blog for natural link placement. Both no-follow & do-follow links on the same website with different articles looks natural to the eyes of Google. We have experimented this with several guest posting sites for better ranking improvements.

for seo you do not want to split it up
for more page views of ads then you can split it

Cool,I think you can, but make sure the articles make sense while reading.You can also post as the single article of 1500 words there will be a no problem.Make sure that the article is in good quality.
