Do you rank on Google without Social Signals?

Do you guys always use social signals to rank on Google? Or is it possible to rank without it? I've been trying to read into it lately and am not too fond at the idea of paying to rank on Google with social signals. I'd rather just try to rank with using GSA. Is that possible? Say if I'm just chasing after some low comp niches with a couple hundred words searched per month. (I'm still in the learning phase).

id say for your situation you could use just gsa or just socials to rank (low comp), or both of you feel like being the man

I hear sharing content linking back to your site has the highest benefit to seo and rankings when compared to other social media networks. Thoughts?

It is all about testing things for your own websites. If all your competitors have them, you might as well get them.

I use social signals to help get my content indexed faster and rank but you don't have too. You can use IFTTT to get your content posted on your social media pages automatically. Google will crawl your site either way or you can index new pages you create using Google Webmaster Tools.

If you have unique content for a low competitive keyword, it is fairly easy to rank up without any backlinks or social signals.

I have ranked with many sites without any social signals but I think this is getting more important with SEO 2015 so will probably change my strategy in the nearby future.

I have also ranked many of my websites without social signals, however, social signals is a major ranking factors in 2015 and i managed to improve rankings of some inner pages simply by increasing amount of real social signals and fb comments.

Social sites are just for traffic from social people. Ranking in Google depends upon links and SEO not on Social media sites.
Some social media pages are ranking better than origianl sites, also you can find Google plus page gives us for better ranking with ******** link.

every one has their own method...some may rank with only social signals some not..
But what Im suggesting you is, For low comp you can rank with GSA tired link.. but don't blast it (churn & Burn)..

I think I got a good understanding of this now. But I was wondering.. Is it ok to add elements to your backlink profile at a later date? Like say now if I only use GSA I have tons and tons of link and and I'm ranking on the 2nd page.. then 6 months later I decide I want to try and make it to the #1 spot and I start adding social media then? Will Google discriminate against rankings because of the delay/order that I got links and social media to my site?

Social signals are important these days but its difficult to say whether they are really vital for rankings. They serve multiple purposes, so better had than left.

Social signals seem to have temporary boosting affect for seo purposes.

For providing a natural looking link profile they are a great smokescreen which in my mind justifies a link profile to a manual review.

If you just throw direct GSA spam to your website then you don't need social signals to move at 1, just throw more do follow links as much as you can.
