    Hi guys

after some months here learning and testing, I'm planning to make it big and propose seo service to local business in my city .

I'm pretty self-confident person and a good speaker (in my local language, lolz) so I'm not really worried about the "approach" since I usually inspire trust in people I work with; my big doubt is about which kind of "warranty" one can actually give to the client.

For example: do you promise 1st page (also after 90-100 days for example) ?
A proposal which will guarantee to get on the board would be far most effective obviously, but if you do that, then when google updates hits you (I plan to use quality links only for clients , but being hit or go to page 2 is still possible) how would you explain it?

I searched a lot before posting this and found very useful infos, but I'm missing this aspect in particular.

    Best regards

You can't guarantee that, unless you own google (or something like that), but you can guarantee that everything thats need to be done in order to get there will be done.

You are not supposed to give that kind of guarantee; instead, you can give them a guarantee that they can see ranking improvements gradually.

Be as open and transparent as possible about what you offer and what you do for them but you can't gaurantee page 1
Explain to people what it's all about and how it has to be done slowly to avoid penalties.

Offer some sort of guarantee of increase over 3 months but not necessarily to page 1.

Or a short contract term so it's easy to get out if they are not happy with the work.

You want to instil confidence and peace of mind without giving clients false expectations.

If you give such guarantees you are looking for troubles, for sure :)

Nice to see your post mate,

First page guaranteed is good but particular time inot good,if you do good back links some of the site will rank but not all of them. There is so many ways out there to mention "GUARANTEED".Which one you going to chose that's the factor of SEO.

You mention you are self confident and a good speaker. Try to explain the TRUTH, Clients always support you.

All the best for your service.

Thank you all for the tips; I realize actually is too "dangerous" offer the first page, altough the keywords I aim to offer are pratically with no competition.

Local business in my city really has no clue what seo is, so it will be tough to catch their curiosity and at the same time don't be too "promising" .

I will update you once the business has started, in the while I accept VERY well any kind of advice from people who work(ed) as seo with local businesses.

For years I have done SEO for local companies in my City. I've made a lot of mistakes along the way. One thing I can tell you never to do is offer any kind of ranking guarantee. As someone else mentioned be transparent and open with the client. Tell them Google changes their algorithm constantly, that any company that makes these promises just want your money etc. Then follow it up by saying you follow Google's suggested best practices and that with time and effort you are confident you can improve their ranking from where it is now.

You can't really promise anything about getting to page 1.

It depends on how you word it and what your contract states.

You could verbally say something along the lines of " we've ranked dozens / hundreds/thousands/zillions of businesses and websits onto page 1 and we don't see why we can't do the same for you, but this depends on the results and findings of the totally free seo audit we'll carry out"

You need the audit, so you can see any penalties or bad/toxic links already there.

Your contract needs to offer an increase / improvement on rankings.

Very good approach; you imply client will land on page one without guarantee it expressly.
    I like it!

    Thanks

But naturally they need to be advised if there's issues / penalties there, as they might not even be aware.

If you approach them and word it well, but don't take the piss people will give you the time of day.

If a client wants guaranteed 1st page I suggest they use Adwords. Those types of clients are a pain in the ass and rarely worth what they pay.

The problem I face is other ass clowns telling people they not only will get clients page 1 but in 1 months time. I've told clients 3-4 times it can't be done in a month and then a week later they are asking how can we speed this up. "This other guy can says it can be done"
Then go use them and get ripped off. When you come back its double the price!

Don't do it and don't claim it in your contract (if you do any). Stay on the good side, be honest and always explain WHY there is NOT gonna happen to rank #1 in a month. Show them that you know what you are talking about. Print official source statements why the instant #1 is B.S and show them that you are the right guy who will do his best to get the job done

Apart of that.. the chances are big that they will trust you after all thousands everyday trust hosting providers promising unlimited everything for 1 penny :D

You should only offer gradual ranking improvements. Nothing more, nothing else. Period.

PS: it's best to get your clients sign a contract of 6 months.

depends the business. but i give an estimate figure of the money they can make, i give them traffic. they tell me how many phone calls they can convert to client, then you take from there spot 1.2.3 dont really means nothing if the rest is broke

    learn this thing
Never guarantee that you will rank a website on 1st page.
if you are promising then you will surely feel some trouble in sometime.

Rankin depends on many factors like genuine content, sitemap, seo, competitors etc. Think that as you, others think same too. The guaranteed way to reach 1st page is Google ads.
