    Hi,

I am trying to keep my domain out of any usa jurisdiction. I set it up with godaddy proxy (private setup) and it is a .me.

Is that ok to use or should I use a registrant abroad?

    Let me know your thoughts.

    Thanks everyone !

Godaddy will flip on you and reveal your registration details in a second if someone presents them with halfway legal looking papers. If you want real privacy, register it far, far away from the U.S.

For domain registration I always use mediaon, they are based in Turkey and the private registration details are from a Hong Kong address. They don't even ask your name, and you can use a throwaway email account if you are paranoid.

One thing to keep in mind; if you pay with Pay-pal they have a 36 hour waiting period before they activate your account. It is a bit expensive as well, about $20 USD per year per domain, but it is pretty much bullet proof as far as privacy is concerned.

For web hosting, I like altushost, they are based in Amsterdam and don't care about DMCA complaints from the US. They are pretty reasonably priced and offer everything from shared hosting to dedicated servers. They have good tech. support as well.

Also, what is the best extension to use? Does it matter really or should we get one from a certain country for legal reasons?
