Hey BHWLearning alot from this site and have been taking action lately and seeing results. I am starting to invest in SEO as I believe you have to spend money to make money. I have a question though, do you have to be ranking on page 1 of Google to start making sales on your site or do you find that you can still make sales even tho you rank on page 3-4 for high competition keywords [e.g. used samsung galaxy]?Thanks

No you dont have to rank on page1 to make sales, if you have other traffic sources. If you rank on page 2-4 you see very small traffic from Google. Behind that you see allmost 0 traffic from Google.

thanks for the reply VinceC, in your experience if I was ranking in Google for a high competition keyword but only on page 3 or 4 would that result in sales or would i have to buy adwords? thanks

Nope, you're gonna make killing ranked on page 3-4...what do you think?

thanks. would you recommend investing in SEO or investing in Google adwords campagins? ive about 200 euro to play with at the moment. any advice would help thanks!

There are a lot of factors to consider before giving out a suggestion for both Adwords and SEO. If I were you, I'd consider posting on free classfieds sites like craigslist, backpage, etc.., There's no guarantee to make a sale if you put your money in Adwords/SEO but in Adwords, you can get the traffic quickly but your ?200 will quickly deplete if you choose wrong buyer keywords.

It would help. But you can advertise using social networks like Instagram

there are 2 ecommerce sites that i watch over and being in the number 1 do make a lot of difference ! #1 means more traffic and more CTR and more conversion !

would you recommend spending in Adwords or SEO?

SEO of course . i won't suggest any one with Adwords. I did the seo myself and i spend most of my time looking over the site. I am on number 1 for 10 top keywords for one of the e-commerce site.

Most search engine users don't go beyond the first page and in rare cases second, third page and the chances grows thinner.

I wouldn't want to subject myself to ranking on the 2nd page because it's basically of no use. If it's a keyword that generate thousands of queries daily then forget about it however, the ideal thing to do is to be on page 1 and position 1 to 4.

Your homepage doesn't need to be on the first page, but innerpages where you target different keywords should be in the first page, otherwise you barley make any money
