    Truthfully, comments to me are more of a trust building wall than anything between my site and my visitors, specially for those who sells their own products, comments will make you seem trustworthy.

    It also depends on the niche, some aren't worth including a comment section if you know there won't be a lot of interaction between the content and users.

    there is nothing worse than lots of page views and no comments, a few fake comments to get the ball rolling helps

    Don't expect views and comments for the first blog. You have to wait for some days. Try to create few fake comments. Once you got views and comments from your blog. Then your blog will be more interactable.

    I dont, but I can definitely see the benefit of doing so - it looks good to your visitors, it adds to the relevent content on your page and I wouldnt be surprised if Google picks up on that just like they pick up on reviews being within content on ecommerce sites.

    Yes I do it all the time. I'm using a plugin to do this. Scrap the comments from related youtube videos, then schedule the comments and replies and also post them in past. This method always attract new visitors to jump in and build more interactions and also trust for your site. :)

    I read that some time ago and been meaning to test it out, but haven't gotten around to it. I'd be very interested in hearing others' experience with it

    As Hawkster said, you can use spam comments and just edit them. I do this a lot with blogs, add the code below to the bottom of your functions.php in your child theme to remove clickability of the spam comments.

    remove_filter('comment_text', 'make_clickable', 9);

    The spammer thinks they are getting a clickable link but it is just a comment and no link. Free unique comments for life - Easy!

    Yes, you could do that to add value to your blog, but it just becomes unethical.

    You really can do anything you want with your blog, its yours. Pages with comments do look worthwhile.

    I think that focusing on organic traffic and blog posts is the best way to go. That being said, you should comment on your own blog posts, but not just to create filler. You should actually focus on building relationships. It says a lot when a company actually interacts with people. It shows that you can get ahold of that company's spokesperson and that the company cares about it's visitors. This is exactly what you want if you want your blog to take off organically. Just like this forum. You want people to respond to you and talk to you, right? And fake comments would be a straight ticket to getting banned. I think you should treat your blog similarly.

    First, we need to attract the visitor to read our blog and let them talk or we made them to talk by leave some fake comments though, we can interact with the readers. Or you can ask them directly to leave their suggestion at the end of the article. It helps for good interaction.

    For some strange reason, I have never had a problem getting blog comments. I do a lot of networking, and SEO brings in a bit of traffic too. So I guess I just got lucky in that aspect. I only comment on my blog posts to reply to other people's comments.

    But I never thought of changing spam comments to increase engagement. I usually just block those. I will have to start doing that.

    It is a good way to kickstart a blog, i use the technique when launching a new site, then when genuine comments come in it could be stopped. Nobody wants to be the first, so it does help
