I want to know your experiences trying to rank different domains. There have been alot of discussion in this area but I want to know how you feel about this today.

Do you find it harder to rank .info or .net than for example .com?
Lets say you would have had the exact same content and SEO profile etc to all websites.

Also, do you prefer using cheaper domains for small sites like blogs or niche sites?

I always prefer .COMs, and imo there is no difference between the top generic tlds when is comes to ranking.

Thanks guys. I agree that .COMs have like a physiological edge over the other TLDs becuase it feel like customers consider it more "serious". But a few years back if I don't remember incorrectly the .info and .net were alot cheaper than .COM for example, but maybe there was a bigger difference in ranking them back then.

com/net/org will probably rank easier than anything else. Cost shouldn't usually be too big of a factor, you can find a .com for under $8, or even for free with a hosting account.

No difference in ranking any generic top level domains. So feel free to use any of the hundreds of gTLD recently released ;)

To rank in France, .COM and .FR are the best candidates. It's mostly what you can find on almost all popular keywords, with the exception of some .NET and .ORG.
Never saw a .INFO rank on a relatively competitive keyword.

I'm always prefer .com, because it's much more easy to use it in different ways: for content site, for online shop, for local site. IMO com is the best choice.

    Dear,
The .com domains have physiological edge and paramount importance than other TLDs. and these are more trustworthy domains than others. Although they are more expensive than other domains but have X-factor in them.

For Google they are all the same.
But .COMs are the easiest to brand.

I generally find .com/.net/.org to be the same ranking wise.

That being said, I've tried .info, .biz and .tv and they don't seem THAT much harder to rank either.

It just seems like they're harder to rank because less people register them

The overall opionion looks to be that the major TLDs like .COM, .NET and .ORG have about the same ranking factor. Feel free to post your results from testing different domains, always nice to see if you find there is a difference.
