Please excuse the Post being in image format, as this forum likes to give me a god-awful message when I attempt to post anything more than a sentance.

Your idea can work, but it will need some work till you get some targeted traffic.
You can earn even through Amazon affiliates not just by AdSense and ClickBank, and I think that through Amazon you will have better conversion rate then ClickBank.
    Cheers

For your first website it is far too broad. Would take time and money to rank and is competing against thousands of similiar sites in a competitive marketplace.

If I was to give you a pointer for your first site I would sit down with my friends and focus on one subject we all agree about

Then I would research to see how competitive the marketplace is. You dont need fancy tool you just need to use google and your brain

If you decide that you are going to build a site on say "Hair Products" then research the topics that you could build pages on and put together a list of longtail keywords like "Best hair mousse for blond hair" and do some research on these longtail keyword on how hard the competition is.

The easiest way to rank a site quickly is to go for a microniche but that is very limiting. At least if you pick a focused but broader term like Hair styles then you can branch outwards and grow the site to do reviews, comparisons, guides for anything related to hair.

Thanks for the suggestion, you say that after creating a website based on a single 'genre' for lack of a better word... to branch out and grow the site to do reviews, etc.

BUT... Wouldn't that be what I'm doing, except for bypassing the entire "Single Product" thing here?

If you try and start a review site for everything from electronics to books then you and your pals will be working your backsides off for a long time without seeing results. I think you already posted that you want to start earning soon and you will have a long slog to riches with this method.

I used haircare as it was on your list but lets say something like football.

If you find microniches(and Im making this up as examples) you will find easily rankable terms like "junior football trials colorado" etc but obviously a microniche site is restricted to a very small market. But if you get a broader football keyword. You can start by targetting easily rankable keywords but the site will have the long term potential to grow and branch out to lots of other football related terms.
