it's good to have a "lonely" job if you ask me - there's less distractions. when i used to be in corporate america, ppl would always stop by my desk to talk and i'd never get any work done! even when one leaves, the next doesn't know that i just spent 15 mins talking so they start talking for the next 15 mins again also - lots of time lost.

i enjoy working online (plus my IM buddies on Skype keep me sane :p ) and then coming out into the "real world" to interact with ppl

IM "loneliness" = so worth it :)

thats the reason why i will quit IM in 12 months after 16 years of im cause i'm just tired and will only do offline staff i like to cause its more fun right at the moment for me.Even when visiting the parents of my wife who are building a new big house i'm helping them basicly by carrying staff and it makes me more fun than IM right at the moment. Its a great feeling to sweat like a pig :)

thats the thing, if you treat IM like any other job you guys wouldnt have this issue. Treat it like a normal job, work from 10-6 then come of your PC and do normal stuff, like everyone else...

Well, obviously I disagree. There are always ways to optimize your workflow so that you have some free time.

This idea that we have to work 18-hour days to be successful is bullshit.

If you are making a good amount of money why don't you rent out a office at one of those virtual office buildings I use to rent a office there for only $300 a month and there are many other people on the floor and you get to interact with people all day if you want.

I think you whole approach to internet marketing is wrong if thats the case.

Do you just research keywords, build sites, rank them and get the user on/off your site as quick as possible via an affiliate link?

If you are your not only suffering from lonelyness but your also leaving a phat stack of cash on the table.

I have gotten that feeling to but it fits me like the hand in the glove since i am the looner kind of person, but if you dosent like it you could always apply for a part time job just to get out and meet people, sign up for some classes or something similar

I do not think lonliness isdependant on the number of people around you, it is a stae of mind.

That actually depends on your vision and how you think.
I never got such a feeling since I have been working with lots and lots of people online and I never felt any difference between people offline and online. Just one thing that I couldn't meet the online clients and friends face to face.
I chat with them whenever I get time and mostly since I am busy with the orders, I have to manage the clients.
Then clients again are all different people so how can I ever be alone?

Its lonely sure, but to be honest being stuck in a 9-5 all people ever think is ''i want to go home'' ''i wish i was at home'' and your at home dude! Your living the dream! Who cares about talking to people at a 9-5, all they ever do is push bullshit around the room like dung beetles. Your a free man! Visit friends on the weekend or after work hours and you'll be ok ;-)

I have a girlfriend so i dont really see mates that much anyways, shes the person i ''hang'' out with now and im more then happy to do so, we have fun, do stuff together, see stuff together, have sex on a regular basis.

Thats where its at, fuck mates, get a missus! Nuff said

    Very true.

The only thing I absolutely hate is that some people when you tell them you are "working for yourself", they take that as an euphemism for being unemployed.

Nah, IM is a lonely job, period. If you think chatting with somebody you don't really know and whose only interest you share is making money over skype makes it somehow less lonely maybe you should consider taking a walk and try the IRL experience lol: instant messaging, social network, any kind of electronic communication will never be able to replace all the small details of a social environment. Let's try not to come out as more nerdy than we already all are ;) Also it really depends on the person if crossing the smile with your atm or news stand guy is enough for you... To me that doesn't sound very fulfilling.. ;) With that being said, as I always say it's not for everybody and I can't think of anything more pathetic than spending your twenties without real human interaction even if you made millions -that 99% working online do not do, not even close- so I'd stick to what a fellow member said: go bar tending at night if you wanna continue this career, go play basketball, join a club of.. well whatever you like, interact IRL because yes this is as lonely a job as it gets and you better gotta be prepared for it.

    Desocializing definitely.

I'm completely used on it though and would have hard time to settle myself back in real world if, God forbid, I'd have to.

Treat it like a real job and you wouldn't have that problem, sure you might have to put in some over time to get some things up and running but look to cut your hour back when you can. Locking yourself a way for long periods of time is slowly killing you.

Yepp, it's very lonely indeed. But the meaning of blackhat internet marketing is to work hard (not literally, but smart) in the beginning then have money rolling on autopilot so you can enjoy your life and not worry about the financial bit.

If you got a few friends who are also interested in IM, you could rent an office and work from there or if you prefer to work on your own without involving anyone, you could rent a room in a big shared office, that way you can socialize with others.

Electronic communication is never a way to replace or fill out the social need, it can actually be destructive to your mental health.
