I am just wondering if any of you guys are using Yahoo answers for traffic for sales now a days? I actually enjoy answering questions on there. I could literally do it all day. So I have 1 account at lvl 2 and im aiming to get it to level 3 to post some links. I hear they ban like crazy. I just think YA has really good targeted traffic...

Im sure this isnt the right place to put this thread so feel free to move it please.

Not effective right now. They used to rank good in google. A few years ago every question you type they are in in the front page.

Exactly, targeted traffic from Google. :) The guy above you has a point.

If the question ranks on Google, that's where you get the vast majority of the traffic and the sales. I'm not sure if too many people would actually go to the Yahoo Answers website to find answers to their questions. Most people type the question in Google, if the question comes up at the top, that could mean a lot. So you don't have the luxury to ignore Google rankings in this case imho.

I don't do Yahoo Answers anymore, when i did, it was effective and drove traffic even after years a question was submitted.
Although i wasn't doing a research, but now that you're asking, i noticed that nowadays when you type a question in Google, the already mentioned Quora outranks YA most of the time, Reddit too or at least all 3 are in the top results.

    Yahoo answers is slowly dying.

You could probably get some traffic from it, but not a lot.

No more than 1,000 hits a day due to volume shut offs...

In all honesty you get flagged and banned quite easily. Try your luck at less popular options. In comparison the traffic is better for ranking questions in long tail results, but old questions are the easiest to do.

The thumbs up system is easy to game to the top, but is easy to be flagged.

If I were you i'd go on MicroWorkers and funnel employee effort to a gateway page for better stick rates.

I see more Quora threads ranking in G than YA.
If you just look around for a bit, you will see aff links & cpa page links in many Q answers. They don't seem to get banned.

YA is pretty much dead as stated above. There are much better options to go with now. Keep in mind that Yahoo is in a downward spiral currently and will probably not recover. Yahoo has made some poor business decisions in recent years under the leadership of Marissa Mayer and has lost the trust of investors and board members. This company has layoffs continuing until the end of the year and has streamlined its current assets (email, search, etc.) in an effort to entice a sale.

If these assets find their way into the hands of the right suitors, YA will be completely gone or absorbed into the buyer's network. Until there is a sign that Yahoo is making a miraculous comeback, I would recommend you avoid their products at all costs. You would hate to lose all the work that you're putting into YA overnight.
