They said that the age of the youtube account and the number of subscribers would make your videos rank higher because it upped your trust level with youtube. I honestly never heard of this.

I guess Subs are not that important as the right kind of views are. I've ranked videos on channels having 0 subs to the top 3 positions for a keyword and in top 100 Videos for a particular Country.

YouTube seems to rank by amount of recent traffic and percentage of video viewed by each viewer on average. Age of the page and subscribers don't seem to matter as much if you're trying to help your video make the front page. I could be wrong but that is what I see when I go to youtube without logging in to google.

Subscribers are only a portion of the solution here. It's best when dealing with social networks to consider what they might consider to be a valuable contribution internally at youtube.

Assuming you provide high quality content that people are interested in then the following things are going to happen:

    1. Views
    2. Likes/Dislikes
    3. Subscribers
    4. Favorties
    5. Shares/External Embeds
    6. Backlinks

So it stands to reason that some internal ranking factors are the above. If you have quality content, then it's best to let the views come naturally, but some people do buy views and likes and subscribers for channels, and gain organic traffic from those low-level inexpensive SEO efforts. One thing to keep in mind about the views is that the longer people watch your content - the more valuable it is perceived internally by youtube algorithms. Even better is when people return to your video at a later time and watch it again, and again. These types of viewers combined are considered "High Retention" viewers and these will definitely help you rank for less competitive keywords/niches.

If you have viral content, just let it happen, but if not - consider researching and reading more of the threads related to youtube marketing, and you will figure out what you need to do in order to grow your channel. Good luck OP!

I think views and time watched will rank your video higher
