Do people or famous people trademark their name?

    I want to buy a domain on g0daddy and it's the exact name, except there is a - separating the first name and last name.

    This person is very famous, but is expected to become more famous in a few years.

    Will there be any problems right now or in the near future?

    Yes come what may you will get sometime a C&D and eventually if they persue the URL you will lose the domain name :eek:

    @steelballs Even if they own the original one without the dash? Can I buy it then sell it? :p

    Hey dude I can assure you the only way is - whois guard - offshore hosting to delay them catching you but they will go after you and catch you sooner or later - all you are doing this way is extending the time you will be able to use it - until they find you

    Or

    Approach the person and see if it is ok to use and open up as a fan site

    celebrities names are basically automatically trademarked without them even having to register for a trademark. not worth registering.

    i think you should add fan in the last of domain, unless the real owner give you permission.
