Do PBN's need any sort of sustained traffic, particularly the higher ranked domains?
I'd also be interested to know peoples thoughts on this one
Yeah, does anyone know what effect low traffic has on a PBN and if traffic's needed for high authority sites?
Excellent question. Now, I am curious as well. I never considered PBN needing traffic.
In my little experience where I used a PBN on medium-low competitive local-seo, I believe that more authoritative is the PBN, more efficient is his effect.
But I haven't yet made scientific test with competitive niche.
Need traffic? No. You can still rank with a completely dead PBN site.
Would it be good to have? Yes.
When traffic hits your PBN site, a couple of things happen.
One, all the tracking cookies on the user's computer get updated. So facebook, google, twitter, etc all know that the user visited the site. This alone may be enough to keep your PBN site out of the manual review system.
Two, a real user hitting your site may give you social signals. Again, a positive signal to the search engines that your site is real and your links should be counted.
Even if you do not have G analytics installed on your PBN sites, G will still be building a profile for your site because of those users' tracking data. The more like a real site your PBN is, the longer it will last and not get penalized.
