If i send a bunch of links to my inner page to rank it will it still push my main keyworks for my homepage up even if i dont link the pages? Im very bad at internal linking...

Yes they will, inner pages pointing at homepage can boost homepage rankings.

You need to do some kind of interlinking. You don't need to link directly, but link to category or something that later link to homepage - the way that Google can track connection between inner page and homepage. Links will increase your domain authority and SEO value, but interlinking will help you to boost your rankings better for your homepage.

What you're asking is whether or not your homepage will improve for its keywords IF you built links to an inner page that wasn't linked to your homepage. I will say yes. Even if you didn't link to the homepage. When you're building links to an inner page, you are still adding juice to your domain and some part of this will still flow back to your homepage. The results you see from your homepage may not be significant but I do think you'll see movement.

However, if you are looking to increase the chances of your homepage ranking up as well then I would recommend either:

  • Link to your homepage somewhere on the inner page which you are building links to. This gives the connection between the inner page/homepage and the juice will flow through easier.

  • Another option would be to build some brand/generic anchors when you are building links to the inner page. These types of anchors are incredibly great when it comes to spreading juice throughout a site, so I'm pretty sure you will see some movement with your homepage too.

I would say yes to that, since it's all one site, the juice flows throughout.
