Hi! I just bought a domain with lots of spammy links on it and it is penalized. It has PR2 and lots of very good backlinks though. I will use it only for someone else (who is informed about spam on it). But now my concern is, that all my other sites on the same host would be penalized as well? Thanks

If your spammy site is inboxrape.whatever and another site is coolstorybro.whatever, why would they affect eachother? Do they link to eachother? Or are you talking about subdomains like inboxrape.parabellum.whatever & coolstorybro.parabellum.whatever?

Better to be safe than sorry. While I cant say for sure whether this penalty will 'flow through' onto other sites hosted on the same IP, it does leave a 'footprint' and could trigger some unfavorable effects in the serps. If it's on an IP which shares your 'good' money sites, get it off there and put it on something else. Why did you buy it anyway??

I have about 5 different sites on it, a couple of them are money sites. Hosting is from hostgator. If I look up the reverse IP to see all domains on same IP, then none of my other sites appear.

I've got some whitehat sites running on servers that also host some shady sites. My sites appear to be unaffected and still get good traffic. If that ever changes, I will contact the host and see what can be done.

Another Question: do .IN .TV .CH domains pass the link juice as well as the .COM's? Is there a difference? (I see some great domains with these tlds)

If you're on a shared hosting server then it shouldn't be a problem because Google won't assume every domain is yours. But if it's on a vps or dedicated server it would be easier for them to guess those domains all belong to you.

.COM domains are protected, but the German ones have fake whois data (.DE allows no whois privacy)

Then there are definitely enough domains on their server for Google to realize that they don't all belong to you ;)

According to me it sud affect your other sites only if they are all interlinked... Are they? If they are not then I do not think that you have a reason to worry

No, they are not interlinked. If more people could report like TDZNL that they have shady sites on the same hosting as the money sites, I think it would answer the question completely.. ! Another Question: do .IN .TV .CH domains pass the link juice as well as the .COM's? Is there a difference? (I see some great domains with these tlds)

It's not really the type of thing that needs an extensive case study. Think of it like this: HostGator has 1000+ domains on a single server. Just because one of those thousands of domains get penalized, do you really think Google would punish all of the others. If that were the case, every website on every shared server at every big hosting company would get penalized because there's always at least one person on the server doing something that could get it penalized.
