You don't need the "privacy policy" page for improving / increasing SERP of your site.

You need to optimize content(s) that related your targeted keyword plus building backlinks toward your site.

If you are using blogging platform, you can regularly update your blog with fresh contents.

Privacy policy serves for telling your clients how and the amount of their individual information will be utilized. It has nothing to deal with SEO. Focus on the content you are feeding on the sites and apply some SEO tactics. Your site will rank easily.

No man it has nothing to do with ranking. Maybe you are not doing it the right way.

it doesn't affect your ranking, but for a website it will be useful for our business to mention our terms and condition, privacy policy which will exactly tell our own guidelines.

Actually, a privacy policy contributes to Google trust. It's not a big signal, but it is a factor. You should always have a privacy policy, there is a generic Google one even.

Having a privacy policy page is a good practice but I don't think it shows any major impact.

There is no matter in having ranking policy for better ranking. It is a part and Google will not rank based on it. Target the right keyword for your site and do regular update. And as a result you can see your site in the first 7 page. getting place in SERP is not the simple one without giving the right effort in the right way.

I heard the same thing a while back. As well if you are using Adsense on your website it is a must to have a Privacy Policy. Don't want to give them a reason to terminate your account ;)

@OP, It's just one page and takes literally no more then 5 mins to setup. If you would like I can give you my default template I use, just shoot a PM (when you can). Better to be safe then sorry.
