I want to start a Craigslist clone type of a website. I won't say what it's for exactly, however, I will charge for ads and, lets say hypothetically it crazily reaches 6,7 figures, will the government put a stick up my ass, or do I need to get some type of a business license or a merchant account at a bank?

oh and does anyone know of a good Craigslist clone script I could use? I know some on google, but does anyone have a really good copy that also has an option for paid ads?5

    Thanks!!!

I dont know how the law is regarding stuff like that in the US... But I am sure you canĀ“t just run it "undercover" out of your basement.
If you earn serious money goverments are going to want a piece of the cake aswell.

Business licenses are for offline businesses not online.

First worry about making the money. Then, use it to get a good accountant to solve all your tax issues ;)

If your just doing everything in the u.s. and its just from a few type of income sources, then all you need imho is a good tax software.
