That is, if I were to sell physical and not downloadable items.
Thanks for advice in advance.
It depends upon the the country you are residing.
If you are in the states, yes. If you are getting your wholesale products from a legit business, you will also be needing a resellers permit. In California the permit is free. You would get the business license locally, and that will cost you money.
If you are in the states you would need a sales tax (aka reseller lic) so you can collect sales tax for sales made within your state. You would also need to contact the county or city you live in (do business in) and see if they require a business license. Where I am, I was required to get a sales tax license but not a business license. The county I live in does not issue business licenses at all.
You could probably call an accountant in your area and find out what you need right over the phone.
I have a sales tax license for my offline store (dollar store) but I'm venturing into the online business trade with my business. Do you still think I need to get a separate license for the online one?
If your selling online under the same business as your brick and mortar store you should not need a new one. A quick call to the tax office should clear up if you need a new one or not. My guess is that you will not need a new one.
Thanks for the insight guys, I appreciate it.
