Do I even need to hide my referrer?

Right now traffic goes like this:

Craigslist > my website > CPA link

My website does not automatically redirect. It's just optimized to convert the traffic.

Do I need to bother with hiding my traffic source, or is what I'm doing now ok?

Well in your case you don't need to hide your traffic because your website will be the referrer.

Thanks blazen. Do you think my current set up would pass with the networks as-is? Or do I still need to do something about the CL thing?

You should be fine mate but if you want to be 100% sure use a double meta refresh.

Hmm well what I was thinking was that I could set up something like this:

craigslist > blank auto refresh page > my site > merchant

This way when my network uses the backlink checker tool on my website they see:
    article link
    article link
    forum link
    redirect link
    blog comment link
    article link

    Rather then:
    craigslist
    craigslist
    craigslist
    craigslist
    craigslist

I'll do some research on double meta refresh. Thanks guys, you put my mind at ease a little bit.

I would do it like this:

CL > Yoursite > PHP Redirect > CPA Link

So that you can easily change out of the offer if you need to and it makes your links look nicer.

Here is some example code for the PHP redirect:

    PHP:
    <?php
    header
    ("Location: http://www.affiliate-link.com/?subid1=blah");
    ?>

Genjutsu, I thought that the referrer was the website that sent traffic to the merchant. In my case it's: my website > merchant. There are currently no redirects / refreshes of any kind going on. When CL traffic gets to my site, it looks like exactly what they were expecting to find and they convert by themselves by clicking my links.

Assuming no redirects are being used, my network would see my website as being the referrer, even though my website got it's traffic from CL. Am I right about this or no?

Timk - there is a recent thread in this forum about somebody who just wrote such a script. Supposedly it works really well. It's somewhere under 'blackhat SEO'. I read it last night so it should still be on the first page.

if someone goes from CL to your site and then clicks to your offer naturally, you are right they will see your site as the referrer.

What Gen was referring to was using a php redirect. In that case if you went from CL > php redirect > offer, then the offer site would see CL as the referrer.

    Hope that helps

to avoid cl referrer being shown, u can include an IF statement, if referrer does not contain CL url, then u can redirect. that should do the trick, works 100%

Are you posting a clickable image ad? A text / image AD that includes your URL?
    How many posts per day?

I ask because you can end up getting your URL banned if you have it in your ADs like that with no redirect.
