Am thinking of inserting my links that refuse to get indexed on Google to my already indexed post that's getting traffic. More of hyperlinking then.

Will this work?
Do Google index bot still visit already indexed posts?

I see in my own posts, google regularly recrawl my posts. The frequency depends. Some, a couple of times a week, others, with a few months apart.
Also, when i use google search console , i can prompt google to recrawl posts manually.

Google's willingness to recrawl depends on how it judges your website.

Yes, Google does crawl existing links in order to check if the content was updated or not. Check the Pages section under Indexing in the Google search Console. There you can see which links have been crawled so far, out of which some would be indexed and some not.

How often if I may ask.?
Earlier you could set the crawling frequency. But these days google automatically adjusts the crawling speed based on the average page load speed of a website. A lower page loading speed increase the chance of google bots crawling your website.

Including the pages in google's index depends upon the quality of the content.

The entire industry of "niche edit" links is based on the fact that links are added to existing content, then when the page is recrawled, the link is discovered.

Google saves resources and does not crawl already indexed pages again, unless the page gets modified.

We know that every site has a crawl budget.. Some authority sites like BHW will start ranking in minutes from when a content is posted. So the crawl budget allocated here is higher.

For newer sites and a lot of niche sites, the recrawl can take a really really long time.

If you see your website's sitemap, you will notice a Last Mod Entry - something like <lastmod></lastmod>. This + excellent internal linking is the safest way method to trigger a recrawl.

When you make changes and publish your article, the lastmod date changes which tells Google that the xxx url destination on your website has modified and a recrawl is needed.

Yes, it will check for any updates or changes to keep the search results up to date for visitors.

Yes, Google keeps checking indexed pages. Adding links to existing posts can help Google find new content. Make sure that the links add value for users and relevant to improve indexing chances.
