I was just wondering if I insert article links into my footer, will the link juice get passed to them? is it bad for SEO?

yes they will... its a thing of the past..

Within a same website, it should be safe. Still, no idea why don't you put them into a sidebar.

Yes it passes link juice as much as like the editorial links or side bar links

Do a deep search on BHW before you count on this way of link building!

footer links, blogroll links are also type of links you can build for site. But they not that much powerful as compared to contextual links.

thank you guys! :)

may I ask why it may get penalised for using footer links to my own articles on site? @VeyronXS

No problem for the question. Okay, many folks used to leverage on footer links and recent update on G algorithms might prove otherwise... users not having effective link juices anymore or worst being considered as spam.

Why not tweak or integrate into your content.

Yes it does but very little and might be penalized
Wrong, and wrong.

It passes a lot of juice, depending on the domain.

And unless you have like 40 footer links from spammy sites, google aren't going to penalise you.

I have sent 30 footer links from unrelated domains and had ranks for 2 years, ranking for a competitive keyword and it hasn't been penalised.

Google says footer links pass way less juice then in-content links. They actually have a classification system on each of the link types. Apparently they can tell different types of links apart, maybe because people use the <footer> html tags?

Thanks again guys, much appreciated!
