Do expired domains still help new sites?

I’ve seen people recommend aged or expired domains as a shortcut to ranking faster. Has anyone here recently tested them, and are they still worth the investment?
Hi Eedita,
Aged or expired domains can give a small boost if they have clean backlinks, but Google is better at spotting low-quality or spammy domains now. it’s not a guaranteed shortcut—better to focus on solid content and proper SEO alongside any domain advantage.

Just tested one last quarter.
The 'shortcut' part is a myth—it requires more upfront work vetting than building a new site.
You're buying problems unless you have the tools and time to do a forensic-level backlink and archive.org audit.
Often, not worth the hassle.

yes expire domain still help to rank or build authority for new site, but you need to find related , low spam and good authority domain

Yes, aged/expired domains can still work, but it depends a lot on the quality of the domain. If the backlinks are strong, relevant, and clean, they can give a nice head start. But if the domain has spammy history, it can actually hurt more than help. I’d say they’re worth it only if you do solid due diligence before buying.

Yes. Expired domains can def give you a boost. Given that that domain doesnt have any spammy links, hasnt been penalized, and has good and clean backlinks. Otherwise, it can hurt you.

old domains can be useful for websites, but only if they have a good history without spam or harmful links, a relevant topic, and are indexed by search engines.

I tested a couple of expired domains this year. They can still help if the backlink profile is clean and relevant, but most of the cheap ones are spammed and give no benefit. If you’re careful with checks (anchors, history, spam score), they’re still worth it.
