Do Domains Really Matter?

I'm going to be starting Bring The Fresh soon and he highly recommends getting Domain names that have the EXACT KEYWORD such as "makemoneyonline" and nothing else or it will be hard to rank for.

The problem is: Domains are stupid hard to find now a days for almost any keyword with at least 1,000 local monthly searches.

Seriously though, how much weight does Google give domain names as the keyword now a days? I imagine back in the days when Bum Marketing was popular but now that Panda and Penguin has rolled out, how much weight does it carry?

Back in the day, people bought up these domains and flooded them with nonsense and bs just to have a keyword in the domain. Anyone with insight on this?

EMD does play a roll in SEO. Age is also another important factor as age shows google authority.

Please note domain is one factor of MANY. In other words it helps with SEO but is not crucial.

Of course a domain matters if it not the right name it might not bring in a lot of traffic
