Hey I was just wondering if CPA companies do any kind of verification of the SS# you give them is correct and corresponds with the name give. Any thought on this would be much appreciated.

Typically a business is not required to verify your ss# the first year you give it to them. They will assume you gave them the correct number. If you make more than $600 in a year then they are required to send a Form 1099 to you and the IRS which reports your earnings for the year. The IRS will then verify the ss#. If it comes up bad they will notify the business that you gave them a shit number. The business is then required to try and get a correct number from you. If you refuse, then the business is required to withhold tax from any subsequent payments to you.

    Hope that help.
