Do cops have agreements with encryption software makers to crack their codes?

    I was wondering if some bad guys have all their files encrypted can cops or courts force or ask encryption companies that made that software give them some sort of a secret cracking code for law enforcement? Is there such a thing?

    Also, is there any software that you guys would recommend that will lock up your PC at any most unexpected moment if you are just opening the door and someone jacks your laptop and tries to get the files, so it encrypts automatically? I read on the news about this one:

    what about the one in the article. PGP pretty good protection? sounds good to me.

    I've never heard of this type of protection before. Only GPS type of security if your laptop gets stolen like a lowjack. i forget the company.
