Do competent freelancers exist?

My business is not growing because I am doing everything myself. I am sick of computers and at this point I just want to manage people, I don't wanna be doing this shit work.

I have tried hiring SEO freelancers on freelance websites and they all turned out to be incompetent. If I could just find ONE, just ONE competent person who could rank websites, I would be so happy.

How do I find someone that knows what they are doing?

If you're gonna tell me "try a bunch of them and pick the best one" I can't waste another 6 months with trial and error. I have wasted enough time with that.

If you're gonna tell me hire a VA and teach him, I am not gonna waste my time with that either. SEO is not something mechanical "do this, do that" a lot of it is based on your own creativity and experience and common sense and research skills and these cannot be taught.

I am really starting to believe the idea "if they could rank sites, why would they rank YOUR site?" prove me wrong. Tell me there are competent freelancers out there that can help me.

I am having same problem as you.

Whenever you look for services all you get is needy people who care only about the money you pay, they don't know anything really other than throwing list of their services.

Lol saying this is like just cuz we are nerds and we don't get laid we ask the question does nice girls exist ?? All the girls i meet are gold diggers

If you are not able to find a good SEO in BHW then lol you ever never find one best become one good SEO yourself then

You basically only have 2 options if you don't wanna do it yourself. Train a VA or go with a SEO service. I wouldn't recommend to go with a service provider though since you have no control and they are usually shit.

There was a time when you could, like 3 years ago, but now those guys left bhw already.

3 years ago is when I joined maybe I am the reason they all left ...Anyways if you just want consulting or know what to do I will help you free of charge ...maybe that might help you change your POV

I think its because the Google Penguin update of 2014, that caused them to either give up or now focus on their own websites. Pretty sure most websites are still suffering from that update.

I have a few ideas for you:

1. If you have experience in SEO (and it sounds like you do), then how about sending any prospective SEOs a questionnaire? You could ask them for an overview of what strategies they plan on using to increase your site's rankings as well as questions about them in order to get an idea of what kind of person they are before you hire them.
2. Go with a "pay as you rank" provider. There's a Jr. Exec or an Exec here who has a service like that. At least this way, if you don't rank, you don't have to pay anything (unless they have a small base fee, but that just defeats the purpose of it). Just make sure they aren't targeting garbage queries.
3. Create a candidate persona for the ideal person you want to hire, and then look for an SEO who closely matches the persona you created.

Also, remember to research anyone you're considering doing business with on Black Hat World or anywhere else. I wrote a guide here that goes over how to avoid scams and how to research members on this site, so I highly recommend reading it.
