    hi,

just wondering since the new google update where they wont count regular non-contextual links as much anymore. what does this say about blog link comments? does this mean we have to do alot more or they just dont be factored in anymore?

    -thanks

I wouldn't be surprised if it's true, anyway, a link that's wrapped in a nice, related, keyword rich, semantically correct text is like a 100 blog comments where link is placed as commenter's name.

They are very devalued now,I'd say links found on a page with alot of OBL's is worthless. This could be part of the algo whereby the number of outbound links on a page is a big factor.
So where does this leave linkbuilding in general given links are supposed to show popularity?I think if your link has relevancy on the page you'll get some juice.I think having a privacy, about and contact page are a must.Keyword domains seem to float onto the first page with no links and I guess thats quite a good format given it's highly unlikely a keyword domain would be off topic to the keyword. In fact if you think about it it is one of the easiest ways to get relevant content in googles eyes.
Link building has changed alot now, tools have their uses but direct attacks don't seem to be as effective but I look forward to seeing some replies on this.

If you can get blog comments to stick on moderated, high PR blogs (which naturally usually have much lower OBL count) then I think it is still worthwhile.

The point is, you should *not* completely exclude blog comments, not before, not now. Google wants to think that your site is being promoted naturally and not purposely by yourself or some software. If you feed it just one type of link, how natural does that look? On the same token, if you feed it all links except one type, again - does that seem natural?

I think it is always best to use as many types as you can. Forum profiles, blog comments, blog articles, article directories, RSS feeds, guest books, signature links, etc etc. I can't say it like I do it, because I don't do it all, I am too lazy... but I think you should keep them all a part of the campaign.

I just used mid PR Blog commenting on 10 keywords (5 keywords per client).
Blogs were PR6-PR7, actuall pages were PR2-PR4.

Each keyword received 14 comments. All of them had improvements after 10 days.
They did not reach first page(2 did), but I was pleasantly surprised with results.

Do not believe what google says, do your tests.

    Go for different link diversities!!!

with tools does it really matter?

I don't think they count for much but I've got a copy of scrapebox, a big fat internet pipe coming into my office and a couple of hundred thousand autoapproves - I'll just keep going until I'm sure they're worthless

Since the Google "Panda" update a lot has changed.

Google has moved the playing field and simple text links are almost counter productive, Pyramid linkbuilding is no longer worth the effort but Contextural Links will get you an almost immediate SERPS improvement.

Most of the backlinks you will be offered today will be either, simple text on blog profiles or blog comments.

Tens of thousands of both can be done in 24hrs using Scrapebox, and because of that Google is now giving simple text links less weight in SERPS.

If you watch the latest video by Matt Cutts, Google's own guru, you will learn that contextural backlinks now have the most value.

Contextural backlinks are links placed inside an article or blog post that are in the context of their surrounding text, so they look natural.

For example an article on firefighting might have links to a firestation URL. These are quite time consuming to create and invariably need an image to get maximum Google juice.

For anyone planning to create backlinks I recommend you to take 3 minutes to watch the Matt Cutts video on autoseosystem-dot-com

If you recognise the change he speaks about. then afterwards use their FREE software to create some contextural articles embedded with your own URL.

    Matt is full of ....
One part of his job is to evaluate the techniques we use to get high serps.
Other part of his job is to let us believe that G is mightier than it is.
It's very hard to prohibit a community to do something (blogspam etc) It is much easier to say that one kind of BL-s are now dead and immediately we pick it up from his blog and jump to conclusions that its true and we leave them be.
Think about it. Why would Matt give a valuable insight to BH community about what to do? Its in google interest to leave us clueless for as long as possible.
