DMOZ and Google Directory updates

Hello,

i've noticed that Google Directory and DMOZ is actually the same think. Recently i have been added as an editor and posted my site in DMOZ. Though , my site even if listed in DMOZ for most than a month is still not listed in Google Directory. Any idea why? any idea how long does this google directory get to be updated?

I think they used a different process to submit your link, so its still two seperate directories
 
Once your site has been accepted into the Open Directory, it may take anywhere from 2 weeks to several months for your site to be listed on partner sites which use the Open Directory data, such as AOL Search, AltaVista, HotBot, Google, Lycos, Netscape Search, etc. We make updates of the data available weekly, but each partner has their own update schedule.

the days of having a dmoz link are long gone.. i don't think the search engines care anymore or weigh a dmoz link like they used to.

Hi,

DMOZ submission carries good PR links especially in categories with a small number of submissions. E.G. the pages i edit have 5-6 links in a PR 5 page. Also the backlink is one way and .org. I believe it has some significance

huh? You mean you are a DMOZ editor? A blackhat dmoz editor?? Fuck man, if so you have a goldmine in your hands...
 
i'm not practising black hat. Only WH. It's not difficult to get to be an editor in a small not very popular category.

Then just not let your competitor sites to get registered in that catagory...(lol)
 
My website just indexed on Google Directory as well. So i guess its two different databases that one feeds the other periodically.

Since you're an editor then maybe you can help us to understand the most common DMOZ question.

Why is it so hard to get a website listed in DMOZ?

I tried so many times that I gave up on it. Many people on many different forums have complained about not being able to get listed. Any suggestions? Does it take being an editor to get your site listed?
