Diverse Link Profile. Okay to blast hard for one keyword?

I have an ecommerce site that has an EXTREMELY diverse backlink profile that I've built up over the course of a few months to gain some general authority.

Now I just paid to have it redesigned and am ready to start really going after some keywords.

I wanted to know if it's okay to go hard for a specific keyword and build 20 - 30 exact match anchors in a row.

This anchor that I'm preparing to blast currently doesn't even make up 4% of the anchor profile.

I also have a TON of branded / generic anchors already in place.

Do I have a license to blast the shit out of a single keyword or should I still keep mixing it up?

Why would you destroy your authority link profile? If you would like to spam it use 301 at least, then you can take it off if something goes wrong.

I'm not spamming, I'm manually building high quality web 2.0 links I'm just building a lot of them geared towards a specific keyword.

It's unclear to me as to whether link diversity is more of an overall thing, like the percentage of anchor text variations at any given time...

or is it something where even if you have a diverse profile but get a sudden batch of links all with the same keyword it could negatively effect it?

    can anyone enlighten me?

If you are building high quality links and this anchors are only 4% of your link profile then you shut be fine

As your exact anchors are only 4%, then there is no issue. Just try to focus on quality links. Do not ever build some spammy links to your money site because it will ruin all your efforts.

no my link building only gets a bit spammy on the 2nd tier and really spammy on the 3rd so I should be good to go.

thanks for the replies much appreciated.
