    Is there any theme that will display posts in a way similar to how forums are? I've been looking on and off for one for over a year, but just can't seem to find one, the only things that come close is bbpress but that seems to only for a "forum" section on a wordpress site.

    the only thing i can think of is a custom page builder plugin, or use a magazine style layout.

    Thanks for those suggestions

    ForumEngine is the perfect theme, I've been looking for something like that for a while its so clean looking compared to the themes I've been using.

    Hey, glad it help, wasn't sure it would fit the bill. People have asked for a forum type theme before and as you said most are for bbpress.

    Its much better looking than bbpress and with a few modifications it can be used with a regular site and converting posts to threads is fairly easy.

    In notepad++ all I had to do was change the following, and it was able to show up under threads section with all their tags.

    Code:
    <wp:post_type><=!=[=C=D=A=T=A=[post]=]=></wp:post_type>
    to

    <wp:post_type><=!=[=C=D=A=T=A=[thread]=]=></wp:post_type>

    domain="post_tag" to domain="fe_tag"
    domain="category" to domain="thread_category"

    Getting rid of the /thread/ slug before the threads is pretty easy, I used the plugin Reduce Custom Postype Slug Settings and then I had to change the permalink to Post name. The only thing I haven't figured out yet is how to change thread-category to category, so I'll have to do redirection and redo sitemap if I am not able to find the fix for it.

    I decided to just do the direction, since I would have had to spend way too much time editing wordpress and the theme to change the default category to something such as post-category so that I could change thread-category to category without breaking the site.
