Discouraging scammers , vouch system , middleman .

I am seeing so many people getting scammed these days for petty amounts its insane . I think one way we can discourage scammers is to have someone very trusted in bhw (Head moderator, Moderator , Admin , Reputable member) that will essentially do the job of a middleman . Both parties (seller and buyer) will do their part , the middleman will keep the money and release it to the seller once the buyer ensures that the service he is being provided is legit . A lot of you might say 'what if the middleman scams' , the middleman will be someone reputable with many years on site and will take a small cut of each successful deal (like 5%) and be rewarded for his services . Maybe a vouch system could be implemented so the user can see who has more experience ,successful deals , amounts etc etc.

This may sound good on paper, but it makes the middle man chosen, technically, a financial entity responsible to holding other people's money.

You can use any escrow you want, even today.

Users prefer to come up with complex methods instead of just using an escrow service and for the life of me I can't understand why.

I think most users in bhw wouldnt feel comfortable using a third party escrow service thats why it would be good to have people on site . As for the part where the middle man is responsible for other peoples money , thats what they will get a small cut for , being trust worthy and keeping the money safe , bhw could even implement a threshold/max amount that a middleman can be responsible for so things wont get out of hand

I think a middleman-like feature has been said to be a part of Marketplace 2.0? Or am I mistaken?

I’ve been around long enough to see trusted members turn out to be scammers. This included Jr.VIPs, Jr.Execs, Execs and even a handful of moderators.

When it comes to money, it’s better to be responsible for your own protection rather than relying on someone else (considering the nature of this industry and the kind of people it tends to attract).

Holding other people's money is not just a responsibility, it also requires to comply with tons of regulations, and even more regulations if you want to do that internationally.

True honestly its really stupid though why scam people for petty amounts where you could make a cut from every successful deal making them x10 in the long run .No matter what though , i think a vouch system would be really useful .

If scammer wants to scam he will deny to use the middleman if he wants to deal the right way there are enough available in the market

It's not as simple as you think.
If a deal did not go well, you are responsible to decide who's in the right.
If you don't believe me, ask any of the mods who moderate disputes.

Yeah that is one aspect i didnt think much, true

There are legal reasons we can't just have our staff hold funds.

However, we are looking into adding an escrow system into Marketplace 2.0.
